Upon your arrival at Colombo International Airport, you'll be warmly greeted by a representative from Lanka Travels. After completing airport formalities, you'll be escorted to your comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. From there, you'll be transferred to your hotel in Colombo for check-in. After a brief rest, embark on a city tour to explore the vibrant sights of Colombo.
After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we'll begin our journey to Kandy. The approximate travel time from Colombo to Kandy is around 4 hours. Along the way, we'll make two stops: first at the Pinnawala Elephant Village for a memorable experience, then at a tea factory to witness the fascinating tea-making process. Upon reaching Kandy, we'll check into our hotel and take a short break to unwind. Later in the evening, we'll visit the revered Temple of the Tooth and immerse ourselves in the rich cultural heritage. From 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, we'll have the opportunity to witness a captivating cultural dancing program. After a fulfilling day, we'll return to our hotel for a relaxing evening. After a fulfilling day of exploration, cultural immersion, and sightseeing, we'll enjoy a delightful dinner at our hotel in Kandy. Following dinner, we'll retire for the night for a restful overnight stay, ready to embark on new adventures the next day.
After a hearty breakfast at our hotel in Kandy, we'll set off for Sigiriya, a journey of approximately 2 to 3 hours. Upon arrival, we'll check into our hotel and take a brief respite. Later, we'll immerse ourselves in the local culture with a traditional village tour, offering insights into rural life in Sri Lanka. In the evening, at 4:00 PM, we'll embark on a fascinating ascent of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, renowned as the 8th wonder of the world. Built by King Kasyapa in the 5th century A.D., this rock fortress served as a royal citadel for over 18 years. Marvel at the renowned frescoes nestled in a sheltered pocket, accessible via a spiral stairway. At the summit, spread over nearly one hectare, lies the palace, while the outer wall was ingeniously constructed on the brink of a precipice. Thanks to the efforts of the UNESCO-sponsored Central Cultural Fund, the 5th-century water gardens of Sigiriya have been meticulously restored to their former splendor. Following our exploration, we'll indulge in a delicious dinner at our hotel in Sigiriya and unwind for a restful overnight stay, ready for more adventures tomorrow.
After breakfast at the hotel, we'll head to Polonnaruwa, a journey of approximately 1 to 1 ½ hours from Sigiriya. Upon arrival, we'll explore the ancient site on bicycles, marveling at the architectural wonders commissioned by King Parakrama Bahu - The Great. Highlights include the Royal Citadel council chamber, prince’s bathing pool, and the awe-inspiring Gal Vihare, featuring colossal Buddha sculptures nestled in a serene grove. We'll also visit the Parakrama Samudra, a massive man-made reservoir. After our explorations, we'll return to the hotel to unwind. Enjoy dinner and a restful overnight stay at Sun Green Resort.
After breakfast, we'll check out from the hotel and journey to Mahiyanganaya, which takes approximately 2 to 3 hours from Sigiriya. Upon arrival, we'll check in to the hotel and unwind. Later in the day, around 5:30 PM, we'll embark on a captivating tour of Dambana Wedda Village. The term "Wedda" refers to the indigenous forest-dwelling community, who have sought refuge in the Dambana forest for generations. Discover their intriguing lifestyle and how they've adapted to their natural surroundings over centuries. After the tour, we'll return to the hotel for dinner and a comfortable overnight stay at Kevan's Casa.
After breakfast, take some time to relax before embarking on the Rathna Ella combined experiences. Enjoy a traditional Sri Lankan lunch at Rathna Ella Village, prepared with love and passed-down recipes. Learn the art of pottery making from local villagers in Mahiyanganaya and craft your own souvenir. Experience the magic of Pan Paduru making, creating intricate reed mats using local techniques. Embark on a scenic 2-kilometer hike from Rathna Ella village to the majestic Kaluwa Wetuna Ella waterfall. Continue your journey through lush forests to reach the breathtaking Rathna Ella waterfall, the highest in the Kandy region. Afterward, return to the hotel to unwind. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Kevan's Casa.
Early morning, embark on the Sorabora combined experiences: 1. Watch the sunrise over Sorabora Lake, a serene moment to behold at 6 AM. 2. Glide across Sorabora Lake on a scenic boat ride, marveling at its beauty and wildlife. 3. Indulge in a delicious breakfast atop Sorabora Rock, prepared fresh by our chef. 4. Witness traditional lake fishing, where local fishermen showcase their skill. 5. Visit the lake fish market, bustling with activity as locals haggle for the day's catch. Afterward, head to Nanu Oya station for your train journey to Haputale (1st and 2nd class tickets reserved based on availability). Upon arrival, your chauffeur guide will be waiting to escort you to Beragala. Dinner and overnight stay await you at Akway Resort.
Enjoy a Sri Lankan paddy field breakfast in the morning, surrounded by stunning views. Afterward, check out from the hotel and head to Ella, a journey of approximately 1 to 1 ½ hours. Ella boasts breathtaking scenery and serves as a base for trekking expeditions. Visit Ravana Falls upon arrival, then explore the iconic Nine Arch Bridge. Experience the adrenaline rush of Sri Lanka's first Mega Zip line at Ravana Adventure Park. Continue to Little Adam’s Peak for a scenic hike before proceeding to Tissamaharama. En route, visit Diyaluma Falls. Dinner and overnight stay await you at Ekho Safari Tissa.
Embark on an exhilarating wildlife safari in Yala National Park in the early morning, where you can spot elephants, deer, monkeys, buffalo, wild boar, and if lucky, a majestic leopard. Marvel at the diverse birdlife including peacocks, storks, herons, and more. Return to the hotel after the safari and check out. Proceed to Balapitiya for a beach stay, with a stop in Galle for a city tour. Galle boasts Dutch colonial architecture, including the historic Star Fort and Groote Kerk. Enjoy the scenic drive to Bentota, where you'll check in to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
You'll be transferred to Colombo International Airport to catch your flight back home, carrying cherished memories of your time in Sri Lanka. The approximate travel time from Bentota to the airport is 2 to 2.5 hours. Standard check-out is at 12:00 PM, and late check-out is subject to availability on the day of departure.
